If you didn't know, I actually put a serious effort into the Sky High Facebook page. Vid links, music, chit chat banter and also contests to keep people thinking. One contest I devised is the "Video Still Contest". I take a screen shot of a moment in skate vid history and the people paying attention can physically come into the shop and tell me the skater and vid title and win a Sky High t-shirt. I stepped it up the last few times going back and finding moments where certain pros/ams were caught on tape wearing Sky High tees. Quim Cardona in Gnarcotica, Adam Graham in E.S.T. 2 and so on... Well the last still contest didn't even get a guess. And the dudes name was right there under him, although Meinholz himself didn't even remember the vid. Anybody out there remember this? Call the shop with the answer and I'll ship you a shirt..

Somewhere around '97 we had a summer where we road tripped to Minneapolis almost every weekend to skate. One of the first few trips John Toms and I were at Fobia after an early Pho lunch, talking about getting some beers and waiting for Third Lair to open. Nesser came from across the shop and said he was working the park that day and asked for us to bring him a 22oz. We showed up with the 22, he let us in and ever since that day Steve has treated me like fam. Love that dude and love to see him consistently killing it. Check the Familia vid here

A photo from the Decked show at the Lawton Gallery UW Green Bay. The opening Thursday night was a success. Over 100 people showed to check it out and hear me speak, which made all the work worth while. Thanks to those that made it out. So I convinced three friends, and one new friend, to loan special pieces from their skate collections to a big show I'm curating. It all goes down tomorrow at the Lawton Gallery at UW Green Bay. Why Green Bay? Well, because I was invited to. Stephen Perkins, the curator of art, having previously worked with Faythe came through our gallery at Sky High for an opening last year. We chatted it up and he asked if I thought I could put together a show consisting of decks. I happen to know enough guys with significant collections right here in Milwaukee so we went ahead with it. Here we are months later and the opening is tomorrow. info

Part of the Milwaukee Film Festival, Dragonslayer plays Fri, Sep 23rd 9:45pm at the Oriental Theatre and again Tue, Sep 27th 7:00pm at the Downer Theatre.
